Jos Menting graduated in Technical Physics and Industrial Automation at the Saxion University. After some excursions, Mr. Menting started working in I&C engineering for different types of thermal power plants. Both new build as brown field and optimization projects delivered a profound base of knowledge in all aspects of I&C, including engineering and commission. After a number of industrial projects he was assigned I&C coordinator for a 1675MW new build combined cycle plant. A 4 year expat experience in the tropics as technical advisor gave new dimensions to his career. Back in Europe Mr. Menting was responsible for a life time extension study for I&C installations on the whole EPON fleet in the Netherlands. As manager for multiple DCS retrofit projects his management skills were further build out. In 2005 Mr. Menting started working for Laborelec. This Center of Competence for energy with its global stretch and the combination of applied science and operational services was the ideal working environment. Being Chief Technologist and heading first the Process Automation team and then the Cybersecurity team gave deep insight in all different kinds of energy production, technology and critical infrastructure protection.
Mr. Menting is internationally active in end user associations WIB (Board member), VDE/VDI and VGB, participates in developing international standards, is active in the EuroSCSIE platform and the European Commission JRC project ERNCIP and ENISA. In 2016 he joined the MIT (IC)3 consortium as founding member and is a regular speaker on conferences.
